Western Werewolf Movie ‘Last Moon’ to Premiere at Blood In The Snow Film Festival

Canada has done a lot for the genre, many great werewolf movies originate from there: Ginger Snaps, My Animal, Bloodthirsty, Wolfcop (one of my personal favorites) and also The Enchanted Village, which was not only Canada’s first animated feature but also the first animated werewolf film.

Happy to write Canada is at it again with ‘Last Moon’ a western horror directed by Brandon Cox and lead by Shawn Doyle, the film will also star Colin Cunningham and Lora Burke. The story will take place in Canada in 1895, it follows an ex bounty hunter who starts a new life on a remote farm, but after a werewolf attacks his family he is forced to fight back and begins to hunt the creature with the help of his daughter.
The film was shot entirely on a farm in Powassan during the summer of 2025, check out the gallery below:

Alan Cooke was responsible for the creature effects who has previously worked on Dune and Until Dawn. The werewolf will be fully practical and it will also features a unique transformation scene!

A cautionary tale about revenge and redemption with the underlying theme of loss of control in the family from a child’s perspective, the film will have it’s premiere at Blood in the Snow Film Festival in Toronto at  Isabel Bader Theatre on November 17th, you can get your tickets at bloodinthesnow.ca.
